The Jawa Bar opened on Victoria Street, West Melbourne in November 2004. With a Czech-manufactured 'Jawa' motorbike placed in the front window, the introduction to the fantastic European decoration has just started. The elongated bar radiates a friendly atmosphere where you can sample a selection of Czech and other European beers. On tap are Becks, Coopers Lager and Coopers Sparkling; for a little bit more adventure check out the delicious cocktails or just drop in for a coffee or tea. The Jawa Bar also hosts accoustic and DJ nights and Fringe Festival events. Check out local newspaper listings, shop windows or ask at the bar. Past the front bar is a relaxing lounge area in the back with a free table soccer, and further still a small, graffiti-decorated outdoor area for about 15 people accessible from the rear lounge. The staircase to the first floor, decorated with stencil art by two local artists, brings you to the wine lounge and gallery. The exhibition space is available free of charge and arrangements can be made for single or group exhibitions. The lounge can be also booked for functions with cocktail-style food or a set menu.
